**Instructional Goal**

When given decimal problems that require students to solve multiplication problems, up the hundredths place, 5th grade RSP students will use knowledge of place value, by recalling information about money and problem solving, place value vocabulary, real world situations and discussions to increase learning and decrease errors made.

**Intended Audience**

5th grade students scoring below proficiency levels and/or Special Education students requiring additional interventions and support. Students should be grouped into pairs and multiple pairs at a single table.

**Length**

7 Lessons at 60 minutes each

**Delivery approach**

On average, expect students to work the majority of the time with their peers, while instructor monitors student progress, in a student centered learning environment:

**Instructional Sequence**

The unit will include 7 lessons lasting 60 minutes in length. Individual lessons will be held on a single day for 7 consecutive school days. The lessons all contain a basic sequential order, including pre-instructional activities, content presentation, learner participation and independent work to be used as a summative assessment for the lesson and formative assessment for the unit.

- Review Place value of whole numbers to 100’s
- Introduce the decimal and 10th’s place value
- Introduce hundredths and thousandths.
- Add two decimals together
- Differences of decimals
- Calculation of decimals in word problems
- Multiply decimals by wholes
